WHO IS AMY DOVER?

Born from the dirt and raised in the woods, in her work of birds, beasts, bugs and man; she depicts a melancholic, ephemeral glimpses in to another world. Exploring our relationship with non-humans in our ever disappearing world, Dover evokes uneasy feelings and raises questions about our relationship with non-humans. Weaving strange tales and unusual encounters. Dover draws from animals she meets, from mountains to jungles; in all their meticulous detail. Every feather, hair, scale and whisker, breaking down barriers between the human and the natural world in the age of the Anthropocene. She invites the viewer to enter a world which challenges perceptions of non-human animals, and nature becomes the central focus.

Amy Dover is a fine artist, illustrator and educator based in the United Kingdom. She is currently a PhD candidate at Newcastle University, as well as a lecturer and researcher at Edinburgh College of Art, Edinburgh University. She has exhibited internationally in both solo shows, and group shows along side artists such as Damien Hirst, Peter Blake, Picasso, Andy Warhol and Banksy. As well she has created commercial illustration for clients from New York to Vienna. Her work has lead her to work with a number of charities, museum and research organisations.

Experiments with bison sketches from @highlandwpark European Bison were extinct in the wild in 1923 and almost completely as a species.
